In case you’d forgotten about East London’s Olympic Park – you know, the one that’s been sitting (not so) pretty since last summer, waiting for something else noteworthy to happen – here’s something exciting to remind you of its existence.

Next month, The Global Champions Tour is coming to London for the first time ever. That’s right, the world’s leading show jumping championships will be staged at the park’s International Quarter – further cementing the horsey legacy that we showcased at last year’s global sports day. The event will see the top thirty riders in the world, including the likes of Jessica Springsteen (Born In The USA), the beautiful Charlotte Casiraghi (Monaco royalty/Gucci ambassador) and Edwina Tops-Alexander (current GCT champion) come together to compete alongside Britain’s Olympic show jumping stars such as 2012 Gold medallist Nick Skelton (pictured above with a special someone). Yes, rumour has it that even Boris Johnson will be getting involved – presumably from the sidelines, but hopefully not.

Broadcast worldwide, The Global Champions schedule will go on to include spectacular stints in the likes of Shanghai, Monaco, Doha, Cannes, Chantilly and Vienna – making us rather tempted to tag along to several destinations!

Global Champions Tour London will take place at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park from June 6-9 2013. Tickets start at £10 and are available from globalchampionstour.com.
