Shhhhh.. listen. Do you hear it?

It’s the sound of a million sharp intakes of breath as the nation sets eyes on the rarest collection of Ferrari’s to be gathered at auction in the last 30 years.

The 16-car Ferrari haul is part of a forthcoming sale taking place at the Villa d’Este; a frescoed 17th century retreat perched on the utopian shores of Italy’s Lake Como. It’s where the annual Concorso d’Eleganza takes place, and where this year RM Auctions has surpassed itself with the Maranello marque’s Top-Trumps of the modern era.

Within the dealer’s staggering hand is an Enzo, F50, F40 and 288 GTO – a veritable royal flush of Ferrari hypercars – plus a 599XX track car, and a rarer-than-rare 550 Barchetta Pininfarina.

We’re not even finished. A Le Mans-contending 1953 Ferrari 340/375 MM Berlinetta (popular with the glitterati, including King of Cool Steve McQueen) and a 1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Coupé Aerodinamico have also been revealed as part of the line-up in previous announcements from RM.

Connoisseurs will be gathering on May 25th 2013 to peruse this catch-perfect pot of Italian automobiles. If you’re not in the vicinity then fret not as remote bidding options, including Internet and telephone bidding, are all available. The auction will also be streamed live so you can watch real-time coverage of the event.
