Joakim Blockstrom is a renowned food photographer of our generation, having worked with legendary chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Ollie Dabbous and Mark Jarvis, to name a few. This time, however, he has left his camera at home and turned his attention to the kitchen, teaming up with Mishki’s Mari Volkosh to create a winter feast for one night only.

Drawing inspiration from their own cultural backgrounds, Joakim and Mari have created a menu of wintery dishes reflecting the unusual union of Russian and Swedish flavours that can be found in the woodlands of each country.

Guests will be treated to dishes designed to awaken their taste buds and make them forget they are in the heart of a busy metropolis. The feast, taking place at Benk & Bo near Spitalfields Market, will invite guests to enjoy inventive, evocative and nostalgic dishes in an intimate environment surrounded by lush greenery. Diners can expect to sample gravlax on borodinsky, Siberian pelmeni dumplings with lingonberry sauce, and kladdkaka cake served in chocolate soil with berries and mist.

All this will be accompanied by a choice of natural wines, carefully selected by Tom Rayfox of The Grape Society, as well as homemade vodka infusions.

Tickets to the Winter Woodlands Feast are available from Eventbrite for £40 per person and include a five-course tasting menu and a cocktail on arrival.
