A recent London jaunt brought me to the eccentric but beguiling Zetter Townhouse. Ideally sited, being well away from the more ‘touristy’ parts of London, yet literally just a few minutes walk from the nearest tube and only a leisurely 20-minute stroll from Blackfriars Bridge and the Embankment, Zetter brings a bit of Christmas cheer and log-fired comfort to even the chilliest winter evening. St John’s Square has a charm of its own, while the Townhouse has a funky retro vibe.

The Townhouse is justifiably famous for its cocktails. I enjoyed several, including a Whiskey Sour that was possibly the best I’ve ever had, while the Bloody Mary was simply superb, being practically a meal in itself. Highly recommended.
