Acclaimed British chef Ben Tish announces two immersive Etna wild food experiences in Sicily

Luxury guest house Palazzo Previtera – located on the slopes of Mount Etna – is to host two “Immersive Etna experiences”. And, happily, they revolve around food rather than being dunked into a volcano.

The events will be hosted by British chef and cookbook author Ben Tish, whose latest book is Sicilia: A love letter to the food of Sicily, and, across four days, also include a masterclass on Etna DOC wines with wine expert Barbara Liuzzo, a hike on the wildest part of Mt Etna with a nature guide, an olive oil tasting and foraging in the Alcantara Valley, and a granita making class with award winning pastry chef Giovanna Musumeci. Ben will also be running two hands-on cooking lessons on traditional Sicilian cuisine, with a slight modern twist.

The guest house officially opened last month after 10 years of painstaking restoration, carried out – to a remarkable standard – by descendants of the family that built the house in 1649. The Palazzo now sleeps up to 16 and also features a 12-room museum and library (preserving over 500 years of Sicilian history) and a contemporary art gallery with a programme of international acclaimed artists in residence.

These immersive experience run from April 28 to May 1, and October 3-6 2023.  Places are priced is £2,950 per person which includes accommodation for three nights, all meals with local beverages, all experiences and airport transfers.
