When the tender to the 73m, €17.5 million motor yacht Yalla whips across the waters at wind-swept speeds of 40 knots to pick up guests from the port it is doing more than merely transporting them to the main attraction. This is an extension of one of the world’s largest and most luxurious vessels reaching out and making a first impression, it is where the superyacht experience begins.

Along with the eagerly awaited launch of Yalla from Italian shipyard CRN last year came the introduction of her tender, a slick 9.5m power boat that has been hotly-tipped to take home the gong for ‘Tender Design’ at next month’s ShowBoats Design Awards. It is one of a growing international fleet of boats that represent an evolution in tender design from the functional to exhibiting levels of innovation and quality that rival the superyachts they serve.

Built by the Netherlands-based Younique Yachts, the creation of the tender has in fact been an all-Dutch affair and included close collaboration with Frank Laupman of Omega Architects and Van Oossanen Naval Architects. The results of this expert team are pure yachting pedigree, where appealing yet dynamic lines are met with comfort, elegance and above all performance.

Like many modern superyacht owner’s, Yallas owner required a power boat that re-created not only the look of the mothership but also the feeling of finesse on board. This has been achieved using meticulous attention to detail, taking into account everything from the lay-out of the teak decks and the unique colouring of the window to the sumptuous leather seating and high-spec finishing. Up to 12 people can be carried aboard the air-conditioned quarters, allowing guests to relax in style between sun-kissed Caribbean islands and Mediterranean hot spots.
