FIEND + R = two very special nights in West London.

According to Giles Coren, a chef like Chris Denney “comes along only once or twice in a decade.”

Some probably say the same about Ynyshir’s Gareth Ward and HIDE’s Ollie Dabbous, which makes the probability of the forthcoming Fiend & Friends evenings something that comes along once in about 30 years.

Denney is currently cooking up a proverbial at FIEND, his restaurant on Portobello Road. In the coming weeks, Chris is bringing some friends and colleagues – who just happen to be two of the greatest chefs of this generation – into the kitchen for two very special one-night-only showcases.

On May 17, Ollie Dabbous (pictured) will travel from his Michelin-starred HIDE on Piccadilly to cook up… well, it’s currently a secret, but the menu will focus on spring ingredients. And on July 30, Chris will be joined by Gareth Ward of the two Michelin-starred Ynyshir, the most awarded restaurant in Wales, for a menu focusing on meat. On both evenings, Jose Sol, Master Slicer of Pata Negra, will be in attendance to hand-slice jamon for guests.

The Denney / Dabbous menu is priced at £100 per head, while the Denney / Ward menu is priced at £140 per head. In both cases, FIEND’s wine-boss Beth Brickenden (who you might know from Amazon Prime’s new series The Three Drinkers in Ireland) has put together a wine pairing at £50 per head.
