Straight out of McLaren’s Special Operations Division and yours for £244,500, the 650S ‘Le Mans’ is street legal and ready to rumble.  MSO’s special edition model celebrates the epic day in 1995 when five McLaren F1 GTR models finished the Le Mans 24hr race, coming in 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th, testifying to the dominance of McLaren’s F1 team and the power of the #59 McLaren F1 GTR.

Significantly, Peter Stevens, the venerable designer of the original McLaren F1, has been involved in its design so you can expect an array of fitting tributes to the ’95 cars; the most prominent being the roof-mounted ‘snorkel’ air intake that channels air into the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 (641bhp, 500lb ft, 0-62mph in three seconds, 207mph top speed) that McLaren says adds an “enhanced aural drama” to your journey. Which, when you’re white-knuckling it around at high speeds, can only be a good thing.

Other thrilling throwbacks include the ‘Le Mans Edition’ lightweight wheels (a nod to the motorsport rims fitted to the 1995 racers), the McLaren-developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres and the Sarthe Grey finish with splashes of McLaren Orange both inside and out.

Only 50 models, all coupés, will be brought into being, so you can expect a scramble from McLaren clientele who possess the means to go beyond.

Priced at £244,500, deliveries will start mid-2015. Owners of the McLaren 650S Le Mans will also receive an exclusive invitation for the owner plus a guest to join McLaren at a 20th anniversary celebration of the famous victory at the historic Le Mans circuit courtesy of McLaren.
