From Ferrari and Maserati to Bentley and Aston Martin, most of us have our “bucket list” cars that we want to own at some point in our lives.

Unfortunately, those dream vehicles often remain elusive unless we enjoy a significant cash injection.

So, imagine if you won the lottery. What would be the first luxury car that you would drive off the dealer’s forecourt? If you need some inspiration, here’s how a selection of previous lucky lotto winners have splashed the cash.

The Magnificent Seven

It’s easy to be jealous of the good fortune of lottery winners; they’re the targets of the ultimate ‘why can’t that be me?’ shade.

And when you see how Tom Naylor, who scooped a handsome £15.5 million payout, spent his windfall you’ll be green with envy.

He traded in his reliable 20-year-old Ford Granada for one supercar for every day of the week: three Jaguars (XJ, XK and XJ220), a Land Rover Discovery, a Rolls-Royce Phantom, an Aston Martin DB9 and a Hummer.

Oh, and don’t forget the Peugeot that Tom purchased for the weekly run to the shops!

His total bill was £750,000, but you might be inclined to agree that it’s money well spent.

Love Match

When Adrian and Gillian Bayford joined an exclusive club of the UK’s biggest ever lottery winners, they decided to treat friends and family in the best possible way.

They spent more than £250,000 on six Audis – three Q7 SUVs and a pair of Q5s – for loved ones.

Unfortunately, their marriage would subsequently end in divorce….and Gillian would go on to get engaged to the Audi salesman who sold her their vehicles!

Lucky Numbers

£13.5 million won, twelve new cars purchased within five months: those were the magic numbers for great-grandfather Peter Congdon.

His dozen-vehicle haul included a BMW i8, which cost a cool £115,000 and a limited edition Land Rover Defender, among others.

The lucky recipients were the members of Peter’s extended family. What a generous man.

Keeping It Real

You’ve probably been daydreaming about the first vehicle you would purchase if you landed the winning numbers on the lottery.

Perhaps your choice has already featured in this list… although it’s unlikely you share the same vision as one winner of the German lotto known only as “Petra”.

Having pocketed nearly £13 million, rather than going wild on the forecourt she decided to keep things real with a rather more down-to-earth purchase: an £8,000 Fiat Panda.

Precision Engineering

The idea behind buying a lottery ticket, for many, is to give up the rigours of the 9-5 rat race.

Well, Garina Fearon, an officer at the notorious Rikers Island prison in New York, decided she didn’t want to give up the day job.

That may sound crazy to some, but she did at least treat herself to something nice to celebrate winning the £40 million MegaMillions jackpot: a brand new BMW 5 Series.

The Choice is Yours

Many of the lottery winners featured in this list are in good company, according to research confirming the most desired motors of newly-minted millionaires.

Mercedes top the poll, with BMW and Mini rounding out the top three.

Perhaps in the biggest surprise, the likes of Porsche and Jaguar are bumped down the list by an unlikely name: Vauxhall!
