(We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to use that header.) Prince William gets his leg over the Ducati 1199 Superleggera and seems to quite like it.

2013 MotoGP Indianapolis Round 10

As part of a pressing official visit to the Motorcycle Live event at Birmingham’s NEC this weekend, a visibly excited Duke of Cambridge thrilled the crowds with an appearance on the hallowed Italian super-marque’s stand. Flashing the same wry smile he normally saves for being up on stage with Jon Bon Jovi, the daredevil heir answered his hecklers by trying on the frighteningly powerful Diaval for size.

The Duke then had a closer look at the new Ducati 1199 Superleggera, which was making its UK debut. The limited edition model of only 500 represents the most exclusive and desirable Ducati in the range and with components in magnesium, carbon fibre, and titanium, the model boasts the highest power-to-weight ratio of any production motorcycle in history.

Tim Maccabee, MD of Ducati UK said: “He commented on how light the Diavel was, but I think he favoured the 1199 Superleggera.”
