Booked your Thames moorings for the summer? It might be worth making those calls as a report suggests that London is about to become the Superyacht Capital of the World. Well, for around three months or so, anyway.

The double whammy of Diamond Jubilee and Olympics 2012 sees TripAdvisor name London the best place to visit in the world – remarkably the first time London’s won that accolade – and has put Royal Docks 2012 on red alert, as reports suggest these events will mean superyacht upon superyacht heading up the Thames.

The league table is based on analysis of tens of millions of reviews by visitors to 440 destinations around the world. Whether superyacht owners read TripAdvisor remains to be seen but there appears to be some logic to the theory. Royal Docks 2012 are anticipating a rush – well, a slow cruise – given their proximity to Central London, City Airport, the Olympic Village and, should you be in with Her Maj, Buckingham Palace is but a short carriage-ride away. They’ve thus put aside a small number of exclusive berths and, in association with MGMT yacht, they come with a dedicated bespoke concierge service: as you’d blooming well expect, frankly.

Mark Upton, Director of MGMT yacht said: ‘The results of this survey just confirm that London truly is the place to be for superyachts this summer. This really will be a once in a lifetime experience and I urge superyacht owners to act now and make sure they don’t miss out.’

By “act now” we assume he means “get your PA to call Royal Docks 2012 and make sure they’ve booked because you’d hate to have to sack another one.”
