Get set for Bentley’s latest piece of automotive elegance. Photos are yet to emerge and the car’s price is unconfirmed, but estimates have put it in the region of £150,000.

Over the next three years Volkswagen AG will invest more than £800 million in its Bentley headquarters for development of the new models, creating an economy-boosting 1,000 extra jobs. Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, said: “The styling will set it apart from any other SUV on the road and will be true to the Bentley design DNA. It will be the most luxurious and most powerful SUV in the market.”

This concept of a super-luxe SUV seems to be becoming a bit of a trend – since Porsche released the Cayenne SUV (now it’s best-seller), Maserati also has plans to release the Levante crossover in two years time and Lamborghini was parading its SUV concept in China last year. Expect to see the Bentley SUV adorning our roadways by 2016.
