A Royal salute from Royal Salute. Appropriately.

Thus year marks – as you may have noticed – the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. And, however you feel about the Royal family, you’ve got to respect 70 years in the same job, right?

To mark the occasion, Royal Salute, they who produce exceptionally aged Scotch whisky, are unveiling an ultra-prestige, limited edition collection called, perhaps inevitably, The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition.

It’s a highly appropriate release from Royal Salute, whose first flagons were created in 1953 as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day.

The Platinum Jubilee Edition is an intricate blend of exceptionally high-aged whiskies, from seven “silent stills” (distilleries that no longer exist) making this a whisky of genuine rarity. We’re told it has the “red apple notes of the Inverleven Distillery, the blackcurrant vibrancy of Lochside and rich toffee of Caperdonich” but, seeing there are only 147 bottles costing $20,000 apiece, we can neither confirm nor deny…

Each bottle comes in hand-blown Dartington crystal decanter, decorated with one of seven different designs, each one based on a brooch from Her Majesty’s personal collection. Royal Salute has also  partnered with jewellers Bentley + Skinner to create a unique brooch, made of 18ct yellow gold, platinum and set with 70 diamonds, which  will accompany a single crystal decanter and wooden box depicting the bespoke design. This one-of-a-kind set will be auctioned via Christie’s on 8th June 2022, with profits donated to the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust.

The Royal Salute Platinum Jubilee Edition will be released in June 2022 and will be available for purchase at selected specialist retailers with an RRP $20,000. For details, click here.
