Off The Map Travel’s new Norwegian adventure hits Senja

As we’re sure you knew, Senja is Norway’s second biggest island.

Because, like us, you probably just Googled that.

Senja offers some of the bet views in Norway, particularly in autumn. That’s why travel specialists Off The Map have put together a suitably Lusso-esque five day itinerary to explore the island from all angles. Literally. Guests will experience the landscape from the air in a private helicopter, on land hiking across the dramatic coastal mountaintops and underwater to meet arctic aquatic life.

“Senja is a truly unspoilt part of the world, with so much colour and things to see whichever way you look,” says Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel. And this trip showcases that colour pallet, from the dark brown and green from the mountains, to the sparkling turquoise waters.

Starting in Trømso – the “Paris of the North” – guests will be taken to their hotel, Mefjord Brygge, by helicopter. Located in the small fishing village of Mefjordvaer, on the North West coast, the hotel offers full board accommodation, rooms, apartments and cabins, and a hot tub, solarium and sauna. I mean, it is Norway…

The hotel serves as a base to explore the island, by boat, by foot, by, er, flipper. Expect seals, sea eagles, golden eagles, shoals of salmon, the world’s largest cold water coral reef… and possibly the Northern Lights.

“We want people to enjoy this unspoilt recreational paradise in all its glory and be completely looked after,” explains Jonny. “From late August guests should keep an eye on the skies in case they’re lucky enough to catch the aurora which starts to reappear after the Spring and Summer months.”

The five-day, four-night Senja Autumn Adventure itinerary costs from £5499 per person, on a full board basis, based on 2 people travelling, not including flights. For more information, e mail info@offthemap.travel or take a look at their website.
