We still can’t get to America but this may be the next best thing…

The American Bar at The Savoy is reopening its doors today (4th October 2021). London drinkers, you can breathe that sigh of relief.

The oldest surviving cocktail bar in Britain, the American Bar is also arguably the most iconic, from the era of Harry Craddock (author of The Savoy Cocktail Book) to 2018 when it was declared The World’s Best Bar at the Spirited Awards.

This much anticipated reopening sees the start of a new era, under Head Bartender Shannon Tebay, the hotel’s first female head bartender since Ada Coleman was at the helm over 100 years ago – and the first American to lead the American Bar team.

Tebay comes to The Savoy from Manhattan (which seems appropriate) where she was Head Bartender of the celebrated Death & Company.

The full menu will be officially launched in November but, until then, guests will be able to explore a list of 15 elegant drinks designed by Shannon as a teaser of things to come…
